Biopharma Knowledge Dissemination Platform

Biopharma Knowledge Dissemination Platform

How can we help researchers and scientists connect the dots around Precision Discovery?

About the project

My role

We are currently collaborating with a bio-pharmaceutical company to develop a research knowledge dissemination platform for early-stage drug discovery. Key stakeholders include computational biologists and scientists working on collaborative research. The focus is on building a knowledge graph that explains relationships between topics and supports content updating and management. Input on usability and engagement in knowledge graphs is sought for co-designing the platform, with early prototypes shared to align with the pharmaceutical company's internal processes.

Our program aims to explore interconnected knowledge's impact on discovery through iterative UI/UX design sprints, fostering collaboration among design, technology, and domain experts. User-centric learning loops will drive continuous improvements, balancing desirability and feasibility while focusing on long-term organizational impact and adoption.

As the Design Research boost, I supported the team in conducting research for phase 1. I interviewed the internal client team to understand their perspectives and desires for the knowledge dissemination platform. Additionally, I facilitated analogous interviews with a researcher from MIT Media Lab who built a similar platform and a UC Berkeley PhD candidate studying fungal plant relationships for inspiration. Initially cautious about design research, our clients became enthusiastic supporters as we progressed, appreciating the human-centered research process based on the conducted interviews and insights gathered.

This project is still in occurring but see our progress here!
